A purposeful beginning to a lifelong journey with the Qur’an
At Al Basheer International School, we believe that the early years of a child’s life are a precious opportunity to develop a strong connection with the Qur’an. Hifz Al-Bidayah is a specially designed foundation programme for our Kindergarten students, created to prepare young learners for a structured journey towards becoming Hafiz-ul-Qur’an.
The word “Al-Bidayah” (البداية) means “The Beginning” — and that is exactly what this programme represents: the beginning of a child’s journey with the Book of Allah.
Hifz Al-Bidayah aims to establish a strong foundation in Qur’anic reading, pronunciation, fluency and discipline during the Kindergarten years.
The objective is not simply to make children memorise at an early age. It is to prepare them properly so that they can enter the full-time Hifz programme with confidence, maturity and the necessary reading foundation.
Kindergarten → Hifz Foundation → Full-Time Hifz → Hafiz-ul-Qur’an
Our long-term goal is to enable committed students to complete their Hifz by Grade 5, allowing them to subsequently devote greater time and attention to their academic education.
Students receive intensive guidance in Qaidah and Nadhira, with particular attention to correct pronunciation, reading fluency and foundational Tajweed.
Students are guided by a dedicated Hifz teacher, with a significant portion of their learning time devoted to Qur’anic reading and preparation.
Young children have a natural capacity to learn through repetition and routine. The programme uses this stage to establish positive Qur’anic habits that can remain with them throughout life.
The programme recognises that Kindergarten children need more than academic instruction. Their routine includes opportunities for learning, play, rest and age-appropriate activities.
Hifz cannot be achieved through school instruction alone. Parents play an essential role in ensuring that the child completes the daily assigned revision and follow-up work at home.
During the foundation years, students work towards developing:
The emphasis is on building a strong foundation rather than rushing through the syllabus.
Parents are an integral part of the Hifz Al-Bidayah journey.
The school will conduct parent training sessions to help families understand:
Parents will receive daily follow-up tasks and are expected to ensure that these are completed consistently.
The school teaches. The child learns. The parent reinforces. Together, they build the journey.
Hifz Al-Bidayah requires genuine commitment from both the student and the parents.
The beginning may be challenging. A young child may take time to adjust to the routine, repetition and discipline required. Parents may also find the initial period demanding.
But with patience, consistency and cooperation, the process becomes easier over time.
What matters is:
Consistency → Patience → Practice → Progress
Students will learn as part of a structured group.
The daily lesson and progression of the group will continue according to the planned programme. The Sabak will not routinely be stopped or delayed because one child is absent or has not progressed at the expected pace.
This approach encourages students and parents to take responsibility for maintaining their own progress through regular revision and follow-up.
Where a child requires additional support, the school will guide the child and parents appropriately.
Hifz Al-Bidayah is designed as the foundation, not the final stage.
Students who successfully complete the required foundation and demonstrate the readiness and commitment for full-time Hifz can progress to the school's full-time Hifz programme from Grade 1.

Greater Academic Focus
After completion of Hifz
This gives students the opportunity to complete their Qur’anic memorisation at a young age and subsequently dedicate greater time to their academic studies.
Our aim is not merely to produce students who can memorise pages of the Qur’an.
We aspire to develop children who:
Read the Qur’an correctly.
Memorise it with discipline.
Respect and love the Qur’an.
Live by its values.
Carry it throughout their lives.
The Kindergarten years can provide a valuable foundation for a child's relationship with the Qur’an.
Starting early allows children to gradually develop:
Rather than beginning Hifz suddenly at an older age, the child arrives at the full-time Hifz stage already prepared.
Hifz Al-Bidayah is a commitment shared by the school, the child and the family.
It requires:
Guidance • Teaching • Monitoring • Encouragement
Effort • Attention • Practice • Consistency
Support • Revision • Supervision • Patience
When all three work together, the journey becomes stronger.
The Beginning of a Lifelong Journey with the Qur’an
Give your child an opportunity to begin their Qur’anic journey early — with the right foundation, the right guidance and the right support.
